Your line of defense in this quest are the Druids. They are formidable against any aggresive Huntable, because of their x5 multiplier.
Player should focus gathering Gold from the nodes in the base and train new Druids as soon as possible, especially on Elite.
Don't forget to use your Market and have more Sacred Groves in each entrance of your base, remember that wood is scarce.
