“ Veii is the capital of the Etruscan Empire and the wealthiest city in the world west of Athens. Since Rome was founded, Veii has loomed over us from its well defended cliffs along the Tiber.
As Rome expanded, the Etruscans fought us over trade routes, farmland, and access along the Tiber. Now that Rome holds much of Italy, we rival the Etruscans, and Italy has room for only one of these Empires.
The Etruscans have pushed Rome too far, and it is time for us to sack Veii and claim all of Italy. Veii is well positioned behind walls and cliffs.
