Pompey
It comes as no surprise that Caesar has sent you to me at this hour. He is incapable of handling delicate issues of Roman politics, and Rome faces a major threat from within its gates.

With the Volsci terrorizing our lands, our farmers abandoned their crops for the safety of Rome’s walls. Loyal as we are, Patrician land owners can feed only so many mouths. Now these same plebeians bite the hands that feed them. They claim starvation and poverty but are consumed with avarice and greed. They want the Patricians to surrender our hard earned and well protected private estates so that they can till the fields.

The Plebeians have no appreciation for the sacrifices of Roman soldiers. While our loyal military have been protecting our gates from the Etruscans and Volsci threats, seditious Dissidents have risen up inside our walls to plot against us.

The aggressive Volsci are at our gates, and Rome finds itself on the brink of civil war. Wisely, the Senate has called upon the honorable Cincinnatus, who is a retired general emeritus. Cincinnatus was living peacefully at his farm, but honorably has set down his plow, picked up his sword, and makes way to Rome to quell this threat to our Republic.

Go to Rome and defend the Senate and the Patricians from these traitorous Dissidents who would destroy Rome before working a day in their lives. I will send you with a cohort of Officers and the great Cincinnatus, whose loyalty to Rome is second to Romulus himself. Give him my regards. Certainly, he will be honored to hear that you were sent by Pompey the Great. The legendary Cincinnatus may have lived centuries before I served Rome, but the prestige of Pompey the Great knows no bounds.
Pompey
March with Cincinnatus to put down those traitors and save the Republic. We seek no greater glory than service itself.
Pompey
Unlike the insolent Caesar, who has neither the authority nor dignity of a true Roman, Cincinnatus is a hero who deserves the honor of all Romans. Thanks to Cincinnatus, the people cheer once again for our great ruling class. Long live the Senate, and long live the Republic! We can now turn our sights back to the despicable Volci who continue to threaten Rome's safety. Cincinnatus may be an honorable general, but he obviously does not rival Pompey the Great. Fortunately, the Volsci do not rival Pompey the Great, either. So they make a good match for each other.
