Julius Caesar
You have shown skill and valor, and not a moment too soon. This is the age of the early Roman Republic and takes place centuries before Caesar will triumph. But with Caesar's intelligent advice and cunning, perhaps even you can lead these early Romans to victory. The more you listen to Caesar, the more dominant the Romans will become and the more your prestige will rise!

Since King Romulus himself founded Rome centuries ago, the Roman Senate has elected kings to lead our city. Several years ago, the arrogant Etruscan Tarquinius married our king's daughter, assassinated the king, and wrongly took the throne for himself. Thus began Tarquinius's reign of terror. He executed senators, conspired with our rivals, and elevated his children above the law.

While you were cutting your teeth on those barbarians, Rome's honorable citizens voted to expel the arrogant Tarquinius from Rome and to establish a republic. Never again shall a king rule the Romans. (Perhaps one day a Dictator for life or even an Emperor, but certainly never a King.)

Tarquinius has now joined with his Etruscan allies from neighboring Veii to march on Rome and retake his throne. Join our troops on the battlefield, repel the Etruscans, and establish the Roman Republic!
Julius Caesar
In the name of the Roman Republic, repel the tyrannical Etruscans and show them that no king shall ever again rule Rome. Fortune favors the bold!
Julius Caesar
Roma Invicta! We have expelled Tarquinius and established the Roman Republic. But the beginnings of all things are small, and the vast Etruscan Empire continues to threaten the Romans. Caesar, induced by these circumstances, generously opens his coffers to you and advises that you use whatever meager coins you have to best equip your legions for battle.
